Easy Filament Storage free Standing or in Shelf

thingiverse

Hello there! This is an easy-to-print filament storage system that can be placed free-standing on your desk or mounted to any shelf. In this case, the shelf mount is directly compatible with IKEA's BILLY Shelf, and the filament storage will be easily mountable to it. To get started, you'll need some screws and aluminum rods, which can be found at any department store. You'll specifically need: * M5 Hex/Allen screws with a length of 12 or 14mm (for IKEA BILLY) - 4 per shelf * Hollow or massive aluminum rods with a 12mm diameter - the length is up to you, or the width of your shelf For the BILLY Shelf version, cut the aluminum rods to 76cm. Next, print two parts: either the "Holder for Billy" or the "Holder Free Standing." For the shelf holder, screw the M5 screws into the smaller holes. Then, put the aluminum rods into the bigger holes and attach it to the shelf. For the free-standing version, we recommend adding rubber stoppers underneath for stability. The labels can be used to organize your filaments by type. To mount a label, simply pull the two rails slightly together and attach it there. The label can be easily moved as needed to adjust to changing filament stock. In the downloads section, you'll find source files that can be edited if necessary (123dx). If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out! Best regards, Philipp
