Here are my 3D CAD designs for CNC building using ball-screws end machined SFU1204. Ball-screws will provide more precision, sturdiness, and no backlash gap compare to lead-screws.You can make a first version of this machine using a 3018 CNC. THis version will have a smaller range in Z axis compare to the full size version.In the full size version, all brackets and gantry plates were designed to be make from 3/8" and 1/2" thick Aluminum stock.
