Eastern Box Turtle Shell (Terrapene carolina carolina)
thingiverse
This print originates from a real upper shell of an Eastern Box turtle (Terrapene carolina carolina) kept in Summit Metro Parks' collection, as seen to the right. The uploaded .stl file is true-to-life, unaltered, including thin points in the bone like where the pelvis would sit. A model with supports added can be uploaded upon request. This shell was scanned using a ROMER Scan Arm at Case Western Reserve University's Sears [think]box. The print to the left was printed at the Akron-Summit County Public Library, TechZone@Main, using 1.75mm white PLA filament. The scan was edited using Autodesk Meshmixer. The white print seen here is for exhibit use and had XTC-3D coating applied with maximum infill and a minimum thickness of 2mm for durability.
