Easter egg seed bomb
thingiverse
This is a biodegradable Easter egg filled with flower seed and potting mix that's ready to be crushed or thrown. With Easter just around the corner, I wanted to come up with a great gift idea for friends and family. The egg has been printed using TWOBEARS Biofila Linen filament, which is incredibly eco-friendly and natural. It's made from linen, a complex polymer of aromatic alcohols known as monolignols, found in plant secondary cell walls and some algae, so you can safely leave it on the ground after crushing or throwing the eggs. I used hummingbird and butterfly wildflower mix for the seeds, but any type will do. Here are my print settings: Printer Brand: Printrbot Printer Model: Simple White Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.18mm Infill: Soil Important Notes: You'll need sufficient cooling to prevent the sides from curling during printing. It's best to print more than one egg at a time, allowing the layers to cool before moving on to the next one. I used a 20-line brim to hold the eggs upright while printing. During the print job, add some soil and seeds around the 50% mark, then add more potting soil at the 75% point. If you're concerned about throwing soil on your expensive printer, just fill the eggs with candy or a flashing LED instead – kids love coloring them later. After printing, trim and sand as needed, then get creative with markers!
