Easter will soon be here and we need plenty of decorated Easter Eggs - it's a long-standing tradition. The new trend is to produce them with a 3D printer. This tool enables you to imprint images onto your 3D printed Easter Eggs. Use your own graphics or find them online. It comes equipped with ImageToData.exe (for PC) - a utility that converts images into a format that can then be used by the enclosed OpenSCAD script to emboss the eggs. You can also emboss spheroids and blimps by adjusting the parameters, or use the code for your own designs. There are numerous sample image maps in the .zip file. How difficult is this to use? Not at all. Simply edit settings inside of a text file within the OpenSCAD environment. You don't need to know OpenSCAD programming! All you need to do is be familiar with how to use an image editor and edit text files on a computer - basic skills really, for any modern computer user. Additionally, you will need to know how to install software (OpenSCAD 2015). It can be found at: http://www.openscad.org/downloads.html. Why isn't there a Customizer? There is now one available here, with a few limitations: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:715467 Instructions All of the OpenSCAD and samples are contained within the zip file, so that's all you really need to download. You will also require OpenSCAD 2015.02.20 or greater. It can be downloaded from here: http://www.openscad.org/downloads.html. ImageToData.exe is an optional image conversion tool. I have isolated ImageToData.exe into a separate zip file, so now if you cannot use .exe files you can still utilize the sample image files. If you already possess OpenSCAD 2015, click on EggUV.scad to give it a quick try. Run the file and press F5. You should see a simple egg. You can raise or lower the panels by adjusting the image around line 16. Otherwise, simply read the readme.txt and try out the examples - it's quite easy!
