Easter basket for FDM
prusaprinters

Thingiverse's MicrosoftStore account (defunct) upload titled “Easter Basket” (its files were licensed CC-BY), STL extracted and uploaded by user spencer April 3rd 2015 - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:754898

I used Meshmixer's sculpting tools to introduce gentler overhangs for better FDM printing and also filled in some gaps in the first layers of the model.

I was able to print at 0.20 layer height and 0.66 extrusion width without problems.

I accidentally sized the sculpt brush too big on one of the overhangs and it bled through to affect the top side of the inner bucket. It is barely noticeable, but if I get some time in the future I'll reupload the file without that. I thought of making a custom, disposable bridge at the top of the underside of the handle, but Cura's “Make Overhang Printable” feature could serve the same purpose. I hope PrusaSlicer can incorporate something like this in the future. It could allow you to drop print resolution if you don't mind the puffy look.

Print Settings

Supports:

No

Resolution:

0.2

Infill:

0-10%

Filament:

Cicla PLA blanco

Notes:

With modifier meshes providing me custom internal supports, gradual infill, variable layer heights and changing the woven midsection to a single wall, I was able to print it mostly hollow on a completely stock Ender 3 in 9 hours with 163g.
