Earthquake Fault Types
thingiverse
Three major fault types are evident on this project. The first, a standard fault, occurs when tectonic forces push rocks apart, creating a clear path for future deformation. A second type, known as reverse/thrust or compressional faulting, arises when the direction of stress is reversed, causing one block to move up and over another. Lastly, strike-slip faults develop when horizontal stress causes rocks to slide past each other, resulting in significant seismic activity.
