Earthquake cabinet lock

Earthquake cabinet lock

thingiverse

This was designed to hang over cabinet knobs, securing cabinets in place during an earthquake. It's not a lock, but rather a stabilizing feature that keeps items from shifting around when the ground starts shaking. Version 2 has been modified to prevent it from dislodging from the cabinet due to repeated shocks caused by seismic activity. A 25% infill with hexagonal internals provides added stability, while four loops form the perimeter of the design. The final product will be printed in wood filament and stained to match the surrounding cabinets for a seamless look. Version 2.a has been dubbed the "Cabinet-inator," with its wooden grain finish giving it a natural appearance that's almost as strong as its predecessor. However, it lacks some of the latter's stability due to the addition of jump-humps, which also happen to give off a pleasant aroma.
