Earth Layers Model

My kid asked me to help him with his school project, where he needed to build a model of the earth's layers. I discovered an incredible Textured Earth model by bld and used netfabb Free to cut it in half. Then, I employed OpenSCAD to enlarge the size and add rings that highlight each distinct layer. We utilized measurements from his science textbook and downscaled them to fit the model accurately. Once the rings were complete, I again used netfabb Free to divide the model into four sections that would perfectly fit on my Printrbot Simple. The finished product measures almost 10.5 inches in diameter. My kid plans to assemble the model using Loctite 401 glue, while he will paint it with Testors model paint. On a later update, I designed a stand to hold the model securely. The stand features small plates attached to the front using M3 screws. Printer Settings: - Printer Brand: Printrbot - Printer Model: Simple Black - Raft Settings: No rafts were used - Support Settings: No supports were applied - Infill Percentage: 6% was chosen for the infill.
