Earth Lamp

I printed the excellent Moon Lamp that was the source for most of the files in this lamp. I decided that I would like an Earth lamp, but with a smooth exterior. Most of the other Earth lithophanes have the lithophane pattern on the outside of the lamp. I used the ItsLitho lithophane maker (https://tool.itslitho.com/CreateModel) to generate an Earth sphere 200 mm in diameter. Then I cut the bottom off and inserted the attachment from the Moon Lamp to attach to the stand. I am somewhat disappointed with the result. The detail in the lithophane is pretty much lost when projecting through the sphere. It might look better with the lithophane pattern on the outside. The minimum thickness of the sphere is 0.8 mm. It looks better from a distance, so the effort was not a total loss. The sphere took a bit over 2 days to print using a layer height of 0.2 mm. It also had some issues on the bottom overhang portion, so it might be better to print this with supports to the exterior portion of the globe that the slicer (I used Cura) suggests. I remixed the base puck from the source Moon Lamp to securely hold the USB A connector from the LED strip in place as shown. I also mounted the sensor for the remote control in the top of the LED mounting tube using Kapton tape. The remote works through the globe. The Moon Lamp had the sensor sticking out of the base puck. I used a USB extension to connect the LED strip to a USB charger. All the files needed for the Earth Lamp are included in this Thing. The LED strip I used was: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QGQGDRM?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
