All files are housed in the same directory, ensuring no loss of textures. To access the model, simply double-click the .mb file or open/import via the Maya window's file menu; do not drag and drop the .mb file onto the interface. The compressed pack may be larger due to sizable textures. Earth surface colors differ per month and vary with sunlight angle, while white clouds remain consistent. Be sure to read the attached Word instructions first! Software requirements include Maya 2015sp6 and MentalRay for Maya 2015sp6; higher versions are acceptable. Rendering with Maya's built-in software render is possible, but slower with a lower effect. UV optimization at the North and South poles prevents texture distortion. Texture resolutions are 43200 * 21600 for Base Color, Bump, Specular, NightLight, and Clouds. Despite high resolution, file opening and rendering remain smooth without crashes or quality decline. A partial rendering image is provided for observation. One-key adjustments control earth material properties like surface color, bump strength, sea/lake/river specular, white cloud thickness/color, and blue sky transparency/thickness. Adjustment methods are detailed in the Word file. The model automatically displays night lights on the opposite side of the sun, with brightness, color, and day-night switching speed adjustable via one key. A contour curve set aids location navigation since viewport map display is turned off. The model was created by the author during personal time and not for any company or individual. It can be used for animations, movies, and games but cannot be resold, transferred, or given without permission. Developing the high-resolution, multi-functional earth model required overcoming many technical challenges to achieve smooth navigation and rendering.
