This second Earth Globe model showcases the landmass separately from the ocean. The land is represented by an object called GLOBE (land), which is a polygonally modeled piece of geometry created using a world map reference and plotted points of continental outlines. After cleaning up the polys and verts, the ocean was removed, and the land mass was extruded with the Shell modifier for versatile styling adjustments. The GLOBE (land) object is linked to the OCEAN object, allowing users to spin the globe. The model uses simple Blinn materials, enabling creativity through personalized textures and procedural maps for a stylized look. Two materials, 'Green' and 'Blue,' are included in the scene, with a white material used for the frozen infinity plane shape as background. The lighting setup is a normal skylight, rendering quickly even on slower machines, averaging 90 seconds per frame. The example labeled "Different" employs Mental Ray Arch & Design plastic and glass materials, featuring the 'rounded corners' effect for a classy edge without Turbo/Mesh smooth intervention.
