Snowflakes emerge from delicate ice crystals or clusters that plummet through Earth's atmospheric veil. Initially, they form as snow crystals, which originate when tiny supercooled cloud droplets freeze into intricate patterns. Snowflakes display a vast array of sizes and shapes, with complex structures unfolding as the flake navigates varying temperature and humidity zones, resulting in almost every individual snowflake being uniquely textured. Encased in rime, these snowflakes transform into compact balls known as graupel.
