The shoreline at Victoria Docks in Kingston-upon-Hull reveals its secrets through a drone survey's low-resolution model. This revealing image showcases a significant portion of CITiZAN’s study area, highlighting old launching slipways, weathered timber revetment, and abandoned Humber vessels that once sailed the waters. Use the arrows at the bottom for a guided tour or click on the numbered annotations to delve deeper into this fascinating history. Earle's Shipbuilding & Engineering Company left an indelible mark on Hull's shipbuilding industry from 1845 until its closure in 1932, producing over 700 vessels during its illustrious run. Today, only faint reminders of this bygone era remain as the old Victoria Docks have been reclaimed and the site transformed into new housing developments. Nonetheless, remnants of the once-thriving industry can still be spotted throughout the surrounding area. The site is easily accessible from the north via a scenic path or from the south along the river Humber. However, caution is advised due to the hazardous mud around the vessel remains, which also serves as a haven for rare birds that now call this spot home.
