Earbud Reel
thingiverse
An update on the design: I made a few alterations and added a new STL file called 'earbud reel V2.stl'. This version has the same outer dimensions but offers increased storage capacity for the cable. It feels better too, in my opinion. I couldn't find a similar design elsewhere; if it exists on Thingiverse, credit should be given to the original designer. The JVC earbuds have a 2mm (possibly 2.2mm) cord that is approximately 1.2 meters (48 inches) long. To use this organizer, place the buds in the center and wrap the cord around it, tucking the end connector into the nearest slot. Printing with Afinia's default settings (0.30mm layers, medium speed, with a raft) takes about 45 minutes and uses 25g of ABS filament. The finished part weighs around 15g. Long-nose pliers were helpful in removing support from the center cavity. Note that the STL files may appear small when viewed due to using Imperial measurements, but print software correctly interprets the dimensions. If you encounter sizing issues with your print software, multiply the size by 25.4 to get the correct metric dimensions. As a future improvement, creating and uploading metric versions of projects is something I should consider, but it's unlikely to happen anytime soon. However, if your software imports the file too small, scale it up by a factor of 25.4 for accurate measurements.
With this file you will be able to print Earbud Reel with your 3D printer. Click on the button and save the file on your computer to work, edit or customize your design. You can also find more 3D designs for printers on Earbud Reel.
