Ear Saver for Face Mask
thingiverse
Common face masks have elastic loops that wrap around the ear, causing discomfort when worn for an extended period of time. This condition results in sore ears. To alleviate this issue, a mask clip has been designed to provide relief by holding the elastic loops behind the head instead. Other similar extenders are available on thingiverse, but most are too long and impractical to use behind the head at present. The goals for creating this extender were as follows: 1. To design it as short as a hair clip. 2. To minimize the use of raw materials. 3. To ensure quick printing capabilities. 4. To make it compatible with small printers. 5. To enable easy layout of multiple copies on the printbed. 6. To incorporate rounded corners for comfortable handling when attaching behind the head. Two STL files are provided: one featuring a single piece and another with a set of four clips. The extender was created using Freecad 0.17, and the source file is attached to this project. A 'no sewing required' mask maker that works well with this clip has been discovered, available at thingiverse under the name "mask maker".
