The new 2020 Robby robot sold by Walmart in the USA but manufactured by Goldlock in China makes an excellent toy. However, to customize it, you'll need to access its interior. To remove the dome, the ear units must be taken off first. You can either snap them off and then reattach them using glue or create custom 3D-printed clothespin-style tools that grasp the Baster Beems' "ears," allowing you to pull them off safely. These ears are securely fastened with barbed ridges on a metal shaft, but with the right tool and some gentle twisting and pulling, they can be removed without causing any damage. Once the dome is lifted off, you'll gain access to the screws holding the head together. My initial DIY attempt was somewhat painful to use, but I later designed an improved version that uses pliers, making it much easier to work with. I refer to this tool as the Robby Ear Puller Stubby. To enhance my ear pullers, I used springs from two wooden clothespins, though they're not essential – simply pinching the two parts together works just as well.
