Ear Gauge and Stretcher Holder
thingiverse
This is my crowning achievement of the semester, aka the BIG MONEY Project. For my final project, I decided to create an earring holder that breaks all the rules. This one is designed specifically with gauges in mind and the expanders used for gauges in the stretching set. Despite a lack of official numbers, it's clear that the trend of wearing gauges has been on the rise since 2011, making this market a significant force to be reckoned with. I scoured Amazon and other websites but couldn't find a gauge holder that lets you organize your gauges and stretchers in style. That's why I based my evaluation of savings on a high-end jewelry box suggested when searching for a gauge organizer - the Glenor Co Classic Earrings Organizer, available on Amazon for $33. My design, comprising two parts and requiring about 7 hours to print, costs approximately $4.30 (107 grams at 4 cents per gram). The savings come out to around $28, or 86%. Another major advantage of my design is that it actually lets you organize the stretchers as well, a feature that's lacking in the one marketed on Amazon. Make sure to rotate the gauge holder and base before printing so they turn out perfectly.
