Eagle Project: Box Libraries

Eagle Project: Box Libraries

grabcad

This project seeks to expand access to books in local communities. Research reveals that up to 61% of low-income households lack any books for their children at home. As a Boy Scout, I have tackled this pressing issue head-on by creating three "box libraries" as part of my Eagle project. These box libraries are illuminated containers strategically placed in residents' yards, containing an array of books available for community use. The books can be borrowed and returned without the need to visit a local library, eliminating inconvenience. The "box library" initiative will provide book access to those who need it most. Each box boasts two visible shelves and a swinging door that safeguards the books from harsh weather conditions. Moreover, each box is equipped with a solar panel strip light on its interior, which illuminates automatically in low-light environments. Books for these box libraries have been generously donated by families of Troop 390 and are now housed within my creations, waiting to be used by others.
