Eachine Racer 250 Battery Tray

The battery tray has now evolved into a versatile component that plays multiple roles. Besides the basic original version, there are two special versions available that enable you to incorporate additional features into your Racer 250. Visit updates at the bottom of this summary for more information. Eachine, in their infinite wisdom (not), has chosen to save pennies by excluding the battery tray from this popular budget mini-quad racer.http://wikirotors.com/index.php?title=Eachine_Racer_250#Versions The absence of this component in the newest version 5 model almost certainly guarantees that the CC3D flight controller board will be damaged and the USB connector will be sheared off in a minor crash. This is utterly absurd because 250 class racing quads are specifically designed to withstand crashes. I have included two fundamental versions of the part, both requiring 2.5mm screws which pass through holes already present on the Racer 250 lower frame (PCB). One version is suited for 12mm long screws, and the other is designed for 16mm long screws. The 16mm version offers greater strength, but the 12mm version can be used if you lack any 16mm screws. The part is built to accept standard 5mm hex head M2.5 nuts. I firmly believe this component should actually be more robust than the original because it doesn't employ skinny little standoffs. It also has a larger contact area with the battery and is positioned more centrally. There is sufficient clearance for thin battery straps, but probably not large ones. Update 3/13/16: New revised versions were created with servo mount point and bracket that is designed to work seamlessly with my FPV camera tilt mount. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1393669 Update 3/18/16: Additional revised versions feature a 36x36mm platform and 30.5mm center holes, allowing attachment of a receiver mount or other experimental part. See the 20 degree version of my D4R-II receiver mount as an example.http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1413058/#files Print Settings Printer: Custom built Kossel 2020 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 200 micron Notes: I typically print in PLA, but decided to print it in ABS because I thought it might be more impact resistant. In reality, it probably doesn't matter.
