E3D-V6 / Titan extruder / BL Touch mount for HyperCube Evolution
thingiverse
9/28/2019 I've successfully installed this on my Hypercube Evolution and it's working beautifully. I ordered my first spool of flexible filament and can't wait to give it a try. Unless there are any critical feedback points that require additional changes, I'm sticking with this design as is. Enjoy... I know I will too. I've removed the WIP tag on this design. 9/27/2019 I've made significant updates to the designs of the Extruder Mount and BLTouch Mount. 9/23/2019 Stand by for changes - they're coming soon! Finally installed it on my HEVO, and what a rush. Although what's here will function, with rework, it will be even better if you wait for my updates. Things being modified: - The relief cut for the extruder gear was not correctly located. The gear rubs against the right side and bottom of the cut, interfering with its rotation. - The BLTouch mount requires additional adjustment range to allow adjusting to an 8 mm offset from the nozzle. (A shim is designed as a temporary fix.) I've added new parts: - A BLTouch shim that can be scaled to whatever Z height is required for fine-tuning the BLTouch mount. - A Loom Bracket to attach a loom to the legacy Fan mount post. To attach it to the current Extruder Mount, you'll need to drill out the mounting hole in the post for an M3 screw. 6/13/2019 I've printed the mount and parts cooling fan mount. Based on test fitting, I made some additional design changes. Reprinted and test fitted to printer - it's looking very good now. Next up is printing in PETG and ABS and testing fully assembled functional installation. I've updated the Mount, Cooling Fan Duct, and BLTouch mount. 5/17/2019 My changes so far have been adjustments. What I learned is that the original design didn't meet all of my requirements. I've taken a step back and done a version 4 of the design. Most parts changed due to new dimensions and alignments. Design caveats due to the larger assembly with the Titan and motor: - Probable loss of 5 mm on X axis. - Possible loss of some Y axis travel. - Probable 14 mm loss on Z height (trade-off on Y axis losses). I'll update after printing and testing. See Design Updates for changes. ----- I've been debating switching from the Bowden extruder to a direct extruder on my Hypercube Evolution. I reviewed many designs, but none matched all my requirements. I decided to design my own mount for two reasons: - Design for my needs - Keep mass close to the X rails. - Keep overall weight to a minimum. - X and -X endstops - Accessible adjustment of the Titan extruder - Canted hot end cooling fan (40 mm fan) - Mount part cooling fan behind X rails (50 mm x 10 mm blower) - Circular distribution of part cooling air - Adjustable BL Touch mount - BL Touch 15mm(spec) from heater block (May decide to design new holder to move closer) - Continue my learning curve on Fusion 360 Note: The original fan mount support is moved in this design to the right side of the bracket. I kept it instead of deleting it because I use it as an anchor for the cabling loom. ------ #This is a design in progress. Parts that have been test printed: - Fan Bracket - Good as of 5/12 - Hot End Fan Duct - Not tested to full assembly
