Update August 2022: For E3D blocks using a cartridge thermistor, check out this link: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2918171 Update January 2020: Added a new "Central Core" to be used with the old-wiring of the V6. This mold has been tested and works well. If you cast one, let me know how it functions. Reusable mold to make a silicone cover for the E3D v6 hotend Covering the heater block will improve its ability to hold temperature and allow stronger airflows when using layer cooling fans. Remember to run a PID auto-tune after installing this silicone cover. Notes: I've used Permatex Ultra Copper RTV because that's what I had available. Using two-component high-temperature silicone will be much easier to cast and produce better-looking results. FYI, Permatex U.C. RTV has a temperature resistance of up to 316°C, intermittent up to 371°C. It's great for use in this application. It's designed to work with the "Modular Screw-on M3 Stud Thermistor" by rp_one_labs . I purchased mine from here: ebay link Please share your prints. Enjoy and happy casting. Martin Instructions Recommended Settings: Layer height: 0.20mm or less works best. Infill: 30% is a good starting point. No supports are needed. Print the parts in ABS and give them an acetone bath. This will create a smoother surface, eliminate cavities between layers, and make extraction easier. Use a mold release agent for an easier extraction process.
