Silicone mold for E3D V6 hotend's. Holes are designed to aid in separating this reusable mold. A 1.6mm rod must be inserted into the top hole for the nozzle. High temp RTV Silicone was used, capable of withstanding up to 316C continuous temperature. The initial mold attempt failed due to insufficient curing within 24 hours, but cured parts are perfect. Next, a 72-hour cure time will be attempted. The orientation of the housing has been changed to match print orientation. A new V2 housing with holes for aiding in curing has been added, along with a V1.5 and 2 mold for different heater cartridge placements. A register for mold to housing orientation has also been included. Testing different release agents: Dawn Alcohol 1:2 mix, Lithium grease, no release agent. PTFE spray proved as a failure, prohibiting the curing of RTV Silicone! Update 2017/04/08: Dawn Alcohol 1:2 Mix works well as a release agent (Dawn Dish-washing liquid mixed with alcohol in a 1:2 ratio). Housing without holes produces a nicer boot. Only longer curing time is needed, approximately 4-6 days depending on humidity. Printer Settings: Printer Brand: Wanhao Printer: Wanhao Duplicator i3 V2 Resolution: .1 for mold parts, .3 for lower parts of model Infill: 30% Notes: Print all with flat part down. Supports are only for the mold part due to overhang. Housing prints without supports.
