### Please read the update log down below in order to select the appropriate design e3d v6 part cooling wing 40mm fan ============================= For those, like me, who do not like blowers because they are noisy, heavy and not reliable, I created a mixed version of the original optimized for 40mm fans. Noctua or Noiseblocker 40x10mm or 40x20mm can be utilized instead of the typical 5015 blowers. I recommend using the Noctua A4x20 5V (if you are on a board dealing with 5V fans like a Duet) or Noctua 14x20 12V (more difficult to find). They all have very good static pressure, a lot of air flow and are not so pricy. Noiseblocker 40x20mm are also good but generate less air flow and less static pressure. However putting right and left wings with 2x 40x20mm Noiseblocker or even 20x10mm Noctua or Noiseblocker will provide at least as much air flow as 5015 blowers. It takes more space, yes but it is a lot quieter. I designed the outlet to not blow directly onto the nozzle but just below it (as you can see on the clipped image). However air is more free to flow around the nozzle on the sides to increase affected cooling volume and help bridging. Downstream to the fan, four anti-rotation plates are added to break air rotation and provide a more laminar flow. I tried to reduce pressure loss as much as I could while keeping the design as compact as possible. Some further optimization is of course possible, let me know in the comments if you have ideas. ### Update 1: May 21, 2018 Fans have been rotated by 15° along vertical axis to provide clearance with X-axis stop switch bracket. Older version had a very tight clearance with switch bracket M3 bolt heads. See views 9 through 12 for more details. ### Update 2: November 26, 2018 Important update: there have been some comments saying that the E3DV6 heater block became slightly wider. If your block is over 16mm wide, use the "_shorter.stl" versions of this design. Otherwise, you can use the standard one. I also shared the STEP file for future modifications. ### Update 3: December 17, 2018 Major update: I redesigned the part entirely to make it perform even better without blowing directly to the nozzle. The 50mm bridge test turns out to be perfect on a CR-10 with both part cooling fans at 80% only. Still prints perfectly fine without support. Print settings remain unchanged. Any comments are welcomed. The STL is for the left part only, to print the right, just mirror it in the slicer. STEP files added for your convenience if you want to further improve the design or add new features to it
