E3D-V6 HotSwap / FastSwitch
thingiverse
This is a Hot-Swap mount specifically created for mendel styled frames that have been reworked into an Akimbo design (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:28431). Print it with ABS or higher temperature materials to avoid any issues, as lower temperatures may cause the mount to melt onto your printbed. I successfully printed this mount on my printer without using support material, and I recommend printing it in the orientation shown in the Thingiverse preview. The "XCarriage_FastSwitch" is designed to be mounted directly onto the modified carriage from the Akimbo thing. Six-pin MPX/Multiplex-Connectors are used due to their high current capacity of about 35A, which is more than enough to handle every heater cartridge. To secure the connector in place, use the MPX-Clip from this Thing and clamp it onto the hotend mount as shown in the pictures. The "E3D-V6_Holder_Clamp" is designed to securely fasten any E3D-V6 styled hotend onto the FastSwitch-mount. If you're on a tight budget like I was, cheap China clones of genuine E3D-Hotends also work fine for students or those who cannot afford multiple genuine hotends. The other half of the MPX-connector is simply shoved through the mounting plate and held in place by soldering wires onto the connector along with shrinking-tubes. This holds the connectors very securely, as shown in the pictures. This mount was modelled in Cinema4D, although I acknowledge that it's not the most ideal software for mechanical designs. However, I had access to it at the time and used it to create this design. I've also included my Parts-Fan mount, which is specifically designed to fit the modified carriage.
