This is a sleek and compact fan mount for the e3d v6, designed specifically for my kossel printer. To fit the part cooling fan between the effector and hotend tip, I created this design with two part cooling nozzles to provide balanced airflow and prevent warping due to single-sided air pressure. With high static pressure and a compact size on the xy plane, these radial fans offer excellent performance in tight spaces. I chose 35mm radial fans for their small size while maintaining high pressure levels. Additionally, using the injection-molded axial fan holder that comes with the e3d v6 ensures a secure fit and compatibility with most setups. After extensive testing on my kossel (with over 20 iterations), I finalized this design. The two part cooling fans provide a great balance of airflow and pressure, directed towards a point about 0.5mm below the nozzle tip for optimal bridging and overhang performance. To print this fan mount, orient it as shown in the file (circular cutout facing down) at your desired layer height (I used 0.15mm), preferably using heat-resistant materials like PETG or ABS due to its proximity to the hotend. This design uses a single 30mm axial fan and the included injection-molded axial mounting, along with two 35*10mm radial fans. The radial fans are hard to find in small quantities; I sourced them from this eBay seller: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/122121951379?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT. To assemble, screw the axial fan into the 30mm mounting slot and then attach the printed fan holder to the e3d heatsink using screws. Secure the two radial blowers with 4mm pan head bolts (1.4mm diameter) facing down. Wire the radial fans in series with a 3.3 ohm resistor to connect them to a 12v outlet. After some trial and error, I achieved excellent cooling performance by optimizing the airflow angle for the nozzle. This compact design should fit on most e3d v6 setups that accommodate the standard injection-molded fan shroud. Feel free to ask questions or share your experiences. UPDATE: I've uploaded a new version (v10) with improved features, including integration of the e3d v6 "spring clamp" style heatsink mount and a 40mm cooling fan adapter for quieter operation using noctua fans. Print this design without supports for optimal results.
