The standard e3d fan duct encounters significant problems when paired with the threaded mount variant of the heatsink. This is due to the fan's tendency to come into contact either with the mounting surface itself (effector, etc.) or the heater block directly. Originally, this issue was largely mitigated by the fan's position above the upper mounting flange of the heatsink and below the top of the heater block, effectively eliminating potential contact points.
