E3D V6 Extruder Carriage

E3D V6 Extruder Carriage

thingiverse

I'm building my own printer design from scratch and when it came time for the hotend carriage, I couldn't find a suitable part on Thingiverse that would work seamlessly with my unique design, so I opened up Inventor and created this custom solution myself. It's designed to be symmetrical, allowing you to print two identical parts and bolt them together perfectly. The carriage is intended to run along two horizontally-oriented 8mm steel rods using high-quality linear bearings, spaced precisely 40mm apart for optimal performance. To ensure a snug fit, you'll need to ream out the bearing holes with a drill press, using a 37/64" bit - but feel free to experiment and find your preferred method. The design also features a convenient 40mm fan mount for effective part cooling. I plan to update this post with refined designs as I continue to model them, along with high-quality pictures once my printer is fully assembled and operational. Print Settings: Printer: Monoprice Select Mini Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.1mm Infill: 50% Notes: Hatchbox PETG: Extruder Temperature: 245 C Bed Temperature: 70 C
