E3D v6 Adapter for Printrbot Simple Metal
thingiverse
I'm currently traveling abroad with severely limited internet access and don't have my printer on hand. I'll be unable to respond as promptly as usual, nor can I make any firmware modifications at present. Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience this may cause. This is an adapter used on top of the E3D v6 hotend to accommodate its shorter length. To use it effectively, ensure your PTFE tube is 5mm longer than the hotend. If the tube is too tight, you might need to remove a small portion to make room for a smooth fit. There's only limited surface contact between the aluminium extruder and the hotend's aluminium adapter. Mine works quite well, but if yours isn't holding properly, it would be best to secure the adapter to your hotend with adhesive - I highly recommend using araldite, as it is irreversible. Here are some updates on the firmware: (19/1/2015) The MK2 model of this product features an improved design that allows for easy filament fitting and better accommodates PTFE tubes. Additionally, I've made a small adjustment to fit these new tubes. (15/6/2015) New firmware was uploaded but didn't work properly yet. (2/8/2015) Firmware was updated again and addressed issues with the 4x4 grid probing, reworking it into a more efficient 2x2 configuration. (7/6/2016) Firmware upgrade to include new triangular probing features for 3x better accuracy. Extended prevention for extrusion oozing and automatic cooling of motors have also been added. (22/6/2016) A mistake was identified in the XY endstop config which has since been fixed. (24/6/2016) Z-probe offset errors were resolved with another update to the firmware. (30/6/2016) Firmware adjustments made specifically for Printrbot's newer versions that feature inverted endstops were released. I also removed a few bugs from the code, tweaked extruder steps, improved hotend temp control and extrusion accuracy - making overall oozing issues less likely. The new firmware includes aggressive temperature management to reduce overheating, thus minimizing print failures due to excessive temperature levels. Settings for fans and Z-axis probes: My updated 3-point triangular probing is now default with the option of turning auto-fan off on pin three. I highly recommend following instructions in wiring diagram provided (check out my picture). Warning: ensure that all electronics work according to design, do not skip a crucial step because the risk may lead to burn-in of electronic components and complete failure! What does 'n-channel' mean? An example MTP3055VL or P16NF06 would suffice for logic level, don't go thinking it only has two suitable chips because all n-channels with high and medium voltage specs work in theory.
