I'm remixing the E3D Titan fan holder from Gyrobot's original design with a quick twist. I loved the rear mount design that made it easy to access the nozzle, but having the fan rear-mounted limited me to printing objects up to 160mm tall to avoid hitting the frame on my RepRap Prusa i3. I decided to front-mount the fan holder using two mounting points of the E3D Titan extruder with M3x35mm screws and washers. The radial fan is secured with m3x20mm screws, nuts, and washers. This setup allows the x-carriage to reach a full 200mm height for those tall prints. A dual radial fan setup could work if used in conjunction with the original rear mount holder. However, it does come with some downsides: removing or changing filament becomes slightly more awkward. The idler force indicator is also covered by the mount - an easy fix. I printed this design in black PLA with supports touching the build plate, sliced and printed using Cura. Here are my print settings: Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: Prusa i3 Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.3mm Infill: 25% Notes: Support touching the build plate is a must. I used black PLA and sliced and printed with Cura.
