This is a replacement part for the bottom of the Printrbot Alu extruder, designed specifically for mounting an E3D hot end or similar groove-mount hot ends with precision and stability. It securely holds the hot end in place without relying solely on pressure, ensuring a level platform where the bed level sensor can still be installed. To install this replacement part: First, insert M3 nuts into the three holes at the bottom of the piece - two on the rear section and one on the front section - making sure they align perfectly with the corresponding holes. Next, feed the PTFE tube through the E3D hot end, leaving about 3cm extra for optimal performance. When mounted, the PTFE will guide the filament through the empty space above the hot end. Remove the old extruder while supporting the motor to avoid damaging any wires. Insert the E3D hot end into the opening and hold the front and rear pieces of the mount around it, ensuring the PTFE tube fits snugly between the sides in the round cutout. While holding everything in place, screw the motor into its position using the original screws from the old mount. This should result in a single, rigid piece once complete. Next, secure the new mount with three short M3 screws from the bottom - these are usually taken from the original extruder setup. Finally, reinstall the rest of the extruder and cut the PTFE tube so that it ends just below the drive gear for optimal performance. If necessary, angle the cut slightly to improve your ability to print flexible filaments, as there should be minimal room left for the filament to be pulled into the gear. This replacement part is compatible with Printrbot's Gearhead v3 design and can be printed without any support structures using the provided STL files.
