E3D Krakken Prusa i3 carriage with Fan, LED and Z-Stop bed leveling.
thingiverse
I picked up an E3D Krakken print head so I could take on 4-color printing. The print head turned out pretty cool, but it required a carriage for my Prusa i3. So, I took some time and designed this in Sketchup Pro. I decided to include a few features that came in handy later - the bearing blocks and main printhead mount are adjustable because if your Prusa's X-rails aren't identical to mine, you'll need something to fall back on. There are loops and a zip tie hole set up on either side to keep excess wires organized. The Fan/LED/Z-stop bed leveler is also adjustable in the up/down direction so you can position it right above the print head tips. The fan ducting blows air downwards only, preventing it from hitting the print heads directly. I worked hard to balance out the weight, making sure not to overload the front end, and kept things narrow to give myself as much X-axis distance as possible once it was installed. Now that the printer's nearing completion and testing is underway, I'll get a better sense of whether anything needs fine-tuning or if this version works out well. First and foremost, watch for the position and orientation of each heater block - you should install and wire them before placing the Krakken into its printer mount.
