E3D Krakken Prusa i3 carriage with Fan, LED and Z-Stop bed level
pinshape
I recently purchased a E3D Krakken print head, enabling me to undertake 4 color printing projects. The print head is a high-quality component, but it necessitates a carriage for my Prusa i3 printer. To create this essential accessory, I designed it in Sketchup Pro. To ensure flexibility and versatility, I incorporated several key features into the design. The bearing blocks and main printhead mount are adjustable, accommodating different X-rail configurations on various Prusa printers. Additional loops and a zip tie hole set on either side help to manage excess wires effectively. The Fan/LED/Z-stop bed leveler is also adjustable, allowing for precise positioning above or below the print head tips. Furthermore, the fan ducting is designed to blow air downwards, preventing it from interfering with the print tips during the printing process. I carefully balanced the weight distribution of the carriage to avoid any front-heavy issues and minimized its width to maximize available X-distance. Once I complete the printer and conduct thorough testing, I will reassess the design for potential tweaks or improvements. Critical Assembly Instructions: When assembling the carriage, it is crucial to pay attention to the positioning and orientation of each heater block. It is essential to mount and wire the heating elements and temperature probes before attaching the Krakken print head to the printer mount itself.
