E3D hot end smallest mount / J-head mount for the Ultimaker
thingiverse
This is a modified version of my generic head mount (available at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:159390) tailored for the J-head mount of E3D's 3mm filament system. The vertical size is slightly smaller than the original, with increased left X dimensions; thus, ensure you double-check your end stops before running this head to prevent undesirable noise during homing. This fork does not include an attached fan for deposited material. Instead, I enclosed the heater block with loose Kapton tape to isolate it and used a powerful 120mm fan to blow on the platform. This approach lightens the entire head and significantly reduces nozzle wobble. I printed this version using Nylon and at 0.18mm layer height with 100% infill. For assembly, M3 screws are used exclusively, but their sizes were omitted in my records; please measure and report back for completion of the description. Attaching the top and bottom parts is straightforward; simply remove the two horizontal screws that secure the bearings to disassemble the head. The fan features a notch on one side, allowing space for the Y bearing (although I haven't printed this part in my setup, it should provide additional support).
