E3D Hobb-Goblin

Just Some Fun! ============ A couple of days ago, someone posted on Twitter a picture that caught my eye - the Hobb-Goblin, found on the E3D website. Huh? What's a Hobb-Goblin? ---------------------- The Hobb-Goblin is a brand of hobbed gear sold by E3D and has its own mascot, a scowling hobbed gear. I think it's meant to look determined, not scary. (My kids think it's adorable.) The Hobb-Goblin was created in-house at E3D. I loved the design and thought it would be fun to make a printable version. What is a "hobbed gear"? -------------------------------- Time for school! If you've assembled your own printer, this might be familiar to you. For those who haven't, the hobbed gear is part of your extruder (the "cold end") that bites into the plastic filament to push it through the hot-end so it can melt and come out the nozzle (extrusion). It has a very important job - if there's a blockage or the teeth can't bite in, you'll hear the familiar clicking sound. Brush your hobbed gear's teeth regularly! OK, who are E3D? --------------------------- E3D is a company that makes the parts that make your FDM printer work. Chances are, you have a hot-end and/or extruder made by them or inspired by their designs. Their stuff works and they stand behind it. So, can I use this on my printer? ---------------------------------------- Heck no! But you can put it next to your printer for fun (or to supervise the little brass gear). Final thoughts... ---------------------- This wasn't sponsored by E3D nor am I affiliated with them. I just happen to like their company and products. The Hobb-Goblin is an in-house design of E3D. They were kind enough to let me share this model on Thingiverse. No, I'm not sponsored by E3D, but their products are top-notch. If you need extruder or hot-end parts, check out their website: http://e3d-online.com. Peace and God Bless!
