This is a complete upgrade kit to mount your E3D Hotend to your CR-10 3D Printer. This mount was specifically created and rigorously tested on a CR-10 for optimal results. The key features include securely attaching the E3D Hotend into the existing fan housing of the CR-10, where it is safeguarded by a specially designed fan duct. This crucial component focuses the airflow onto the cooling unit of the Hotend, shielding it from direct exposure to the temperature sensor and maintaining its critical functionality. Printing Instructions: This upgrade kit necessitates robust support material! The parts are located proximal to the hotend, demanding that they be printed in high-temperature resistant materials such as ABS or an equivalent material. It is imperative that these conditions be met for optimal performance. Required Parts: You will need the following components to complete this assembly: 1. E3D Hotend 2. 2 x M3x25 (ISO4762) screws, essential for mounting the upgrade kit. 3. 1 x M3x15 (ISO4762) screw for attaching the fan duct securely in place. 4. 2 x M3x10 (ISO4762) screws to ensure a solid fit for the fan duct. 5. 2 x M3x5 (ISO7380-1) screws that facilitate assembly and attachment of parts. 6. 2 x M3 nuts (ISO4032), necessary for reinforcing mounting. Assembly Guide: First, meticulously disassemble the stock hotend by unscrewing its heating element and temperature sensor. Next, skillfully integrate these components into the E3D Hotend using minimal soldering if needed at all! Following this, attach the backplate securely to the x-axis carriage. Thereafter, meticulously position and secure the Hotend with bracket onto the backplate. Assemble it so that the temperature sensor is discreetly mounted on the back side of the unit to ensure proper airflow for cooling, minimizing contact between the fan duct and temperature sensor. It is strongly recommended that this region be insulated using Kaptontape or similar material to maintain optimal performance. Now proceed to dismantle and adjust the 40mm fan while carefully placing the newly introduced fan duct in its specified location (ensure proper orientation prior to final attachment). Finally, assemble all the individual components with caution to prevent damage or tangles in the cables. Optimal results can be achieved when positioning cables on the right side of the hotend. Critical Note: During initial bed leveling post-upgrade, be prepared for variations in nozzle height up to a few microns and exercise extreme care accordingly!
