E3D Cooling Fan (for v5, not v6)
thingiverse
This update features an improved version 3 STL file for the cooling fan, increasing room for the fan and removing built-in support. The new Slic3r allegedly has enhanced support generation, although untested. Previously, version 2 STL was challenging to remove the two breakout sections but can be done with patience. It has been in continuous use for two months without issues. The cooling fan is designed for E3D mounted on a Solidoodle 3, combining print cooling and E3D airflow. However, there's no control over print airflow. Instructions include lining the inside of the cooling circle with HVAC or high-temp tape, printing in ABS, removing integral supports, and using 30% or 40% infill. The slicing process is time-consuming, taking approximately 58 minutes on a notebook using Slic3r. If you don't face hot filament issues, this cooling fan may not be necessary. Always check the instructions before printing.
