E3D BigBox Model
thingiverse
I chose Tinkercad to learn 3D design and modeling due to its ease of use and numerous tutorials. This was a crucial choice because I needed something that could educate our teachers and students without causing frustration. One of my first designs in Tinkercad was this simple calibration tool for the BigBox 3D printer: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1344376. I wanted to create something more challenging and visually appealing, so I began creating a BigBox model in Tinkercad that closely resembled my own BigBox. My initial goal was to complete it and print a small replica of my BigBox, but now I realize that this model also serves as a great test print for my printer's settings. The E3D BigBox contest inspired me to add real-world use, scalability, and usability with support ideas requested by the BigBox team. I was relieved to learn that OpenSCAD wasn't a requirement of the contest, as it seemed like hieroglyphics to me! I'm thrilled to be enjoying my BigBox, having accumulated 700 print hours in just 3.5 months! This model was created using Tinkercad. Edit it online at https://www.tinkercad.com/things/cQT1htfhOKU.
