E3d Anet a8 stepper motor cable chain mount
thingiverse
I recently swapped my mk8 out for an E3D v6 hotend on my Anet A8. I'm extremely pleased with the upgrade, but after completing the conversion (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2316850), I discovered that there were no mounts available for the X-axis cable chain. Fortunately, a mount does exist (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2482359), but I didn't want to reprint it. To solve this issue, you can attach the mount to the back of the stepper motor. To do this, remove the four screws from the back plate and then secure them in place with the mount. It's not a visually appealing solution, but it works perfectly. If you'd like to modify the design, I've made it available on Tinkercad (https://www.tinkercad.com/things/a2cvIeUjZIq-anet-a8-stepper-motor-cable-chain-mount/edit?sharecode=DL4Gy4txqJ_P5Vg2V8JD9h1sdQJ0F6mZSKppGMJlmWs=). Update: I've added an elongated mount for the X-axis motor to make it easier to move the chain. Update: To keep the spring in place, I use a 4mm hex nut. Occasionally, the spring would hang in the chain, so I designed a simple cap that allows the chain to slide over it easily. This design also makes it simpler to press down on the spring when loading filament.
