E3D 40mm Fan Adaptor Extended
thingiverse
I was looking to swap out my 30mm fan for a 40mm one and all the other files I'd tried with printed heat sink clips kept breaking or not fitting properly. This guide was really helpful, but the original file had M2 holes for the 40mm fan, which are actually M3 screws. So, I remixed it to match my setup and added a few extra mm to the base of the piece so that none of the parts touch my heater block. I printed mine in PLA with the smaller side down, using supports for the larger 40mm face. It could be printed the other way without supports, but you'll need really good adhesion and a slow first layer. So far, my printer is much quieter just from swapping out to a 40mm fan - I'm really impressed with how much of a difference it's made. I mounted this on my Hypercube x-carriage and it fits extremely well. Enjoy the remix!
