Dyson DC14 Cord Wrap Bracket
thingiverse
We've had a trusty Dyson DC14 vacuum for years, but after its rugged handling the little tab at the bottom of the cord wrap snapped off, making it nearly impossible to fully wrap the cord in place. This simple fix prints out in two handy pieces. 1) A circular ring to neatly surround the vacuum hose 2) A sturdy bracket with a long tab to provide ample room for cord wrapping Once I assembled these components together, I used a cotton swab to carefully apply acetone to the joints to "bond" them securely. So far, so good! If it breaks again, I may need to redesign the bracket to consist of two pieces that fit together seamlessly. For now, when the cord is unwrapped, the bracket wobbles slightly but instantly fits snugly once a cord is wrapped around it. I printed my custom part on a reliable Solidoodle 2 with 0.3mm thick ABS material and no support structures required. Following up with an acetone vapor bath seemed to solidify the piece nicely.
