In its decade-long existence, my Dyson DC05 encountered the same issue of a broken connector between the handle and extendable tube. Regrettably, the manufacturer no longer provides spare parts for this model (claiming they're designed for a lifetime). However, with my 3D printer at hand, I managed to create a replacement part, albeit slightly over-engineered and needing minor adjustments.
