Dymaxion Globe
thingiverse
I created this dymaxion globe after witnessing it in action. I used a high-quality sheet of olive plywood (3mm) and antique brass 3x10 mm wood screws. I applied the fuller projection from PandaCNC (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2497223) and had to import it into Corel Draw, making adjustments to reposition the holes. The cdr file features two layers because I separated the engraving and cutting processes. I carefully "cutted" the gridlines with lower power since vector engraving was not an option. I also modified the insert slightly, as the tip caused some trouble and saved a bit of printing time. To complement the globe, I crafted a small display from three pieces of plywood that holds it securely in place along one edge. Special thanks to Gav for sparking this idea and to PandaCNC for providing the fuller projection.
