Dying Persian
myminifactory
This Roman replica of a warrior defeated in battle likely belongs alongside the similarly-sized Dying Gaul. The head is believed to have been copied from an original group of figures erected by King Attalos I in Pergamon or Delphi around 200 BCE, a period marking the peak of Attalos's power. The statue can be clearly identified as Persian due to its characteristic moustache, distinctive Asiatic eyes, and cap.
