This extraordinary specimen has spent an astonishing eight years stationed on the ocean floor, patiently waiting for its chance to shine. The incredible journey of this coral began when it was deployed by the RRS Discovery during Expedition DY108. For nearly a decade, it remained steadfast in its underwater habitat, silently observing the ever-changing marine environment around it.
