OK, let's get to the missing piece of the puzzle.\r\n\r\nHaving left half my DX Commander base at my mother-in-law's place, I needed a replacement and set out to create one in a single piece that would also work with my 12M Spiderpole.\r\n\r\nThe design consists of two interlocking bits secured together with a dab of CA glue.\r\n\r\nI fabricated the ring from a 125mm x 3mm aluminum disk sourced from eBay and drilled a hole through its center. You can leave the base disk intact, but I threaded the bolts to provide additional grip. Since there's some plastic for the threads to bite into, you might get away without doing so.\r\n\r\nA couple of wires with crimped eyes on the PL259 connector connect to the top and bottom bits, completing the assembly.\r\n\r\nThis design pairs well with universal spacer rings (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4081868) and wire winders (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4082284).
