Dwarven Steam Golem (Remix) - 28mm Gaming
thingiverse
Recently, the incredibly talented Valandar created a set of Metal Golems that sparked my imagination with an idea I had been developing. He released them under a derivative-friendly license, so I made some modifications to create the creature I needed for an upcoming game. I thought it would be great to share it back with the community. Using one of his golems as a starting point, I added various robot-like features, including rivets, plate lines, steam vents, Dwarven runes, and more to create an iron steam/magic-powered monster. I also refined some of the etchings on the surface metal and made adjustments to make it FDM-printer friendly. I detached the arms from the main body and designed them as ball/socket joints for separate printing. The main body prints without supports needed, and basic slicer-made supports plus a raft worked well for printing the arms in their rotated positions. I included a complete version for anyone who wants to print the entire model at once or use it with resin. I also provided based (2") and unbased versions. These models are fun to paint and require minimal post-processing. The pictures were printed with .08mm layer height and painted using a mix of Reaper and cheap metallic paints. I'd like to thank Valandar again for the original model, so be sure to follow him and show your appreciation if you enjoy his work!
