The Dwarven 1 Gold Piece is the quintessential unit of currency. As the principal mining and smelting establishment, the United Dwarven Kingdoms keep a strict standard for both the purity and the exact weight of each coin they produce. Weighing exactly 0.02 lbs, (not in printed resin mind you!) and being worth approximately $104 in today's currency, this coin could fill the belly of a peasant for a month, or encourage a city watchman to give you information that he usually would not. This coin was minted in the city of Stonehaven and bears the visage of Stalag Hammersong, the Lost King. Although his niece now rules Stonehaven in his stead, his unconfirmed death dictates that by official standards, he is still king until the standard 7-year period has passed before he can be presumed dead. The reverse side of the coin is marked with a "1" and "STONEHAVEN" in both dwarven and common, as the dwarves often deal with the races of men.
