DV8 Concept Car
grabcad
This digital model portrays a personal project to create a unique concept car, which I drive during weekends. The car is based on a VW rail buggy with integrated engine and suspension in a tubular steel space frame. Its body is shaped using 3/8" steel rod splines formed on a roller, covered by high-performance nylon textile changeable in minutes. LED backlighting accentuates the design during nighttime. The cloth skin design is eco-friendly as it significantly reduces energy consumption in car production. The open-source Volkswagen transaxle allows for easy adaptation to various power systems, including hybrid, electric, and combustion engines. Weight savings from the textile body may offset battery packs and other energy storage systems. The skin concept also offers fashionable customization options - users can download the model and apply prints, patterns, or alternative materials like camouflage, neoprene, fur, or vinyl to the car's exterior.
