I designed several versions of adjustable dust shoes that easily slip onto my Makita router, utilizing the existing hardware from the Makita shoe. To create the "skirt," I cut a 1/8" piece of foam and securely attached it with hot glue. This setup has worked flawlessly, requiring zero cleanup efforts. The design was specifically tailored for use with my smaller shop-vac, which features a 1.25" diameter suction tube. One version of the dust shoe includes a small lip that allows users to simply wrap it around the router's diameter, while the other requires wrapping the skirt entirely around the part. Both versions function exceptionally well. Additionally, I crafted a bracket with a circular channel to facilitate the attachment of an air cooling line. This setup enables me to utilize a compact, relatively quiet pump to provide bit cooling during aluminum or plastic cutting operations. The dust shoe itself features a window that allows for simultaneous use of both the dust collection and air cooling systems without any interference.
